Material Property Testing
Accurate simulations can be performed only with accurate inputs. One key factor for radiation exchange and IR signature analysis is surface emissivity as a function of radiation wavelength. ThermoAnalytics can provide your team with accurate band-specific emissivity measurements and apply those measurements to a thermal or IR signature model. Conductivity, specific heat, and density are also critical values to understand and capture thermal behavior. While these measurements are generally performed as part of a larger simulation contract with ThermoAnalytics, such data can also be generated as a stand-alone contract.

Key Measurements for Lincoln Memorial Condensation Study
ThermoAnalytics performed one of the most advanced transient simulations of an historic structure: a series of analyses covering many days and successfully predicting condensation on the Guerin Murals inside the memorial structure. Additional analyses examined possible heating schemes to prevent condensation.
Prior to analysis, ThermoAnalytics took physical measurements of the murals (see photo at right) to assure that CAD models reflected the ground truth of structure. More importantly, ThermoAnalytics obtained sample brick material from the National Park Service and delivered accurate conductivity tests on the brick. This was a key parameter to determine the feasibility of heating the murals from behind (through the brick walls).
